NW IA | We've been feeding bean stubble for several years. In theory bean stubble keeps the critters chewing rather than consuming higher volume as they will with hay or leafy corn stalk bales.
The oil in the bean stems is also believed to be beneficial to some degree.
I've never experienced a problem with the material being harsh enough to harm the cattles mouths.
If Holsteins can dine on 2x4's without getting slivers in their mouths bean straw should be ok.
