Worked for me.

About years ago I bought a rusted out birdbath Dodge Power Wagon for $500.

Put another $400 into it, $100 for used tires, the rest was mostly to replace U joints and leaky seals.

Recently turned down $1500 for it. So, I'd say I gained about $100 a year equity in the darn thing!
