The deadline for installing & using RID on drones that weren't imbedded with them is now past. I'll assume all those flying those drones now have them.

I didn't realize the RID needs to be registered separately from the drone w/the FAA. Also, you (pilot) has to verify it's operation. Supposedly download yet another app and view it, which can be tough if you're using the phone to fly the drone already.

And their range is very limited.

I'm not sure of their real value in the end.
