From my limited experence - if you are a producer / enduser / feeder and are actively marketing your production, you need not worry. If you are hedging crops that you do not grow / use - then you are a speculator . . . . The IRS gives a great deal of latitude to farmer producers / feeders - marketer of their production . ..  If a guy is bluffing, they can figure it out . .. .  Again, from my limited experence, you shouldn't have to worry about the hedges, with the back up info you are keeping .
