Western Oregon | We are off grid, we have a passive solar water heater with an electric on demand heater to bring it to temp. It is plugged into the AC line from a solar generator. Only needs to raise the temp a little. Sometimes the passive heater is way hotter than the electric on demand heater is set for. We only use it for showers, we heat the water on the wood stove or in a hot pot for daily use. Our water comes from a spring, so basically rain water.
Depends on how many watts, ours is just 20 amp and regular 12ga. romex....James
