SC Wisconsin | I was thinking about you the other day, you were mostly buying wet calves and selling feeders right? I buy newborns and raise to fat, it's a lot of money and risk to carry for that length of time. Luckily I am full on the backside with no fats going until late june so I couldn't put calves in during my normal March 1 fill unless I wanted them to stay in the hutches until late June when a pen opened up. The insane prices made the decision that much easier to sit this fill out. We usually get a little peak in prices this time of year so hopefully that's where we are at and it doesn't keep climbing from here. Great for the dairy to get a little relief with milk price where it's at but sucks for me and you. Time will tell. | |
