I had an acurite and you needed it connected (wifi) to an app on a running computer 24/7, maybe they're all that way. The app would mess up every 36 hours or so and would have to kill it in task mgr and restart and it was a bear to resync most of the time. Bearing went out in the anemometer in less than 18 months, won't move until the wind gets up over 15 or so, and then sounds like a injured dog yelping over and over. I need to climb up on the shed roof and put it out of my misery. I'd like another, but it won't be an acurite unless they've greatly improved.
