During the design phase, I made the decision to NOT use I2C. This is because of its cable length limitations are so short. There are "extenders" out there, but that would be just another part to buy and work into the design. Plus there is the addressing issue you mentioned. Just seemed like a lot of unnecessary hassle. The AM2305 may be "officially" discontinued, but the knock-off-artists out there lead me to believe it will be around for a while. Plus, there is an AM2305b that is still being manufactured (best I can tell) that is a simple swap out/in with the original sensor.
The current support for corn and soy are calculated via formulas. My next major update to the firmware will probably include support for about a dozen other grains via internal lookup charts.
I plan on making that firmware upgrade another freebe.
Other platforms?
Ya - the MEGA is old. But - "everyone" supports it, and "it just works."
Wifi - ya, that could happen in the future. | |
