West-Central IL | Some great genetics still out there in nongmo corn. We've always planted some traited and some nongmo ever since the traits came out.
Yes several companies are bringing new high yielding hybrids in nongmo. Wyffels has really hit its stride with this nongmo effort, although there are others as well.
You do not have to buy full stacked traits for every situation. For us, even if we do decide to plant a traited corn it's always a double stack (rr, corn borer) never a full stack.
If situations exist where you "need" the full technology package then buy the traits, or don't, it's still a simple economic threshold problem.
Are they worth it for you end of year net return? Is there another way to protect or manage for that pest?
If they're expensive, but still worth the cost, then buy the tech. | |
