As I said; I am positive that a sharper plane blade would help, I don't envision any great benefit of any sharper chisel though. I use a chisel to fit dovetails and finish machined mortise and tenons. A sharp chisel is a requirement for slicing a few thousands off. The planes are mostly used to finish a board. If they aren't sharp it requires more force. I don't mind sharpening often, it's part of the work.
