2WS ended in 2000. C-15 was a complete redesign of the 3406E block and was introduced with the 6NZ serial number. The 2WS is not the same but is a very good engine. 2WS was the first engine with the updated electronics and 70 pin ecm.
Yep on the 6NZ being a better block design. They also have a better sealing setup on the front and rear structures that pretty much eliminates two of the places that 3406E engines like (love) to leak engine oil.
Our 6NZ has over a million miles on it with no rebuild to date, and you could literally park it in your kitchen, and not leave an oil spot on the floor from any part of the engine except the blowby tube. It will drip a couple drops from that when parked, otherwise that engine is CLEAN. We did replace the Jake housing, Valve covers, oil cooler, and power steering pump seals a couple years ago because they were all starting to seep a little. Also replaced the rear engine seal 100k miles ago when it got a new clutch. So, while it's not all original as far as seals go, it's never had the front or rear structure leak yet to any degree, which is different than the E model Cats for sure. |
