Subject: Tranny of dead ideas

S.C. Wisconsin
I am just about finished with this book, The author seems to think that since WW2 the US has become arrogant and has buried their heads in the sand with the thinking that everything we do in the country is right and we don't have to look at other countries for ideas we can use here. He compared us to the auto industry starting in the 70's who were arrogant and didn't pay attention to the foreign makers until it was to late. Our health care system is the most inefficient in the world spending the highest % of out GDP of any country in the world with 50 million with no coverage. Countries like Switzerland spend 12% while the US spends 16%. Now this author said that the Liberals and the right have to change their ideas, the liberals have let the teacher Unions to take over the schools and try to protect the inefficient industries. The right has to change some of their thinking towards change, like some of the companies have to be more socially responsible. We have a tendency to believe this as I always maintained in business you have to pay attention to your competition and never become arrogant or you could get snowed under. This doesn't mean that we adapt everything from other countries but pay attention to their successful ideas and be willing to adapt them.
