West Central Wisconsin | The idea came when I couldn't get a high quality, clean, consistent calf feed for our bottle calf operation. It has grown a lot since. There is probably 20,000 + holstein and holstein cross steers on milk at ay given time within 30 miles of me. Most all are raised by Amish contract growers. Several of them have been trucking in feed from Ohio because they have not been satisfied with any local products. It's easy to be competitive when they are paying $3000 a load in trucking from Ohio. Its a niche market that is exploding in my area. We've also picked up a few dairy farms supplying their calf and grower grains. It's is still in its infancy stages but the future looks pretty solid provided I keep quality up. | |
