I agree. There are thousands of bins around IL that have been built in the last 5-10 yrs. They don't split open routinely. Though, I think we have seen photos here of some old bolt-together tanks that let go after 50 yrs. Our oldest farm bin is 56 yrs old. We have added a couple of rings a few yrs back. Looks fine still.

Maybe we're judging too soon on the reason for this failure.
