But the chopped decomposes faster.
I don' like my stalks chopped. If they blow away it is not good. If they don't blow it leaves a mat.
IF I leave some stalk standing and bigger pieces the soil warms better in the spring and things don't blow quite so bad.
And yes, I have had hilltops cleaned of all evidence of corn. Just not as much or as bad as the neighbor.
