NEMO | Some of our best yielding soybeans have been on fields where cows run all winter and spring on cornstalks. There is just something to the combination of the hoof action along with hay/feed and manure everywhere. You might want to pay more rent since his cows will be doing you a favor.
We have done everything from slowly no-till into the cow tracks to Phoenix rotary hoe to Sunflower VT disk lightly. Usually hit it right after a rain as the ground will be a little mellower. Just barely scratch it to even things up some so all the beans get covered in dirt when you drill/plant. Other than that you are overthinking it.
One of my life goals is to get a good or new fence around all of my owned row crop land so I can winter cows on the cornstalks. | |
