Subject: RE: Grazing cattle on non-frozen ground

Farmington IL
I ran 140 head of stock cows on 40 acres of corn stalks every winter. November thru April 1. We fed them on the stalks with a TMR everyday we could get across the field. The we would haul manure on it. In the spring it looked like a complete disaster. I would wait till it actually got fit and moldboard it. Sometimes it would be close to may. Plow it in good conditions, get it worked and plant it. Continuous corn. Raised some really good crops and it always looked good. Neighbor tried all kinds of things and he finally just started plowing his field he ran cows on too.
