I really like having that living root system under the hooves. The op might want to offer that to the landlord in the future. With beans, we have planted slowly in those conditions before, increased pop a bit but wouldn't have had to in the end.

Clean up any mess and disk or vt the worst areas. Lightly vt the whole field and plant. Beans are very forgiving of this with their tap root.

We have a 25 acre cattle yard field. It isn't rough because they pack it flat. We just wait for a rain and then plant it while it is soft on top. Many years it is one of our best yielding fields. It is very good soil to start with. Only in the severely dry years does it suffer if we don't get timely rains for corn brace roots to penetrate.
