Service bodies instead of pickup beds work really well.

We had several service body 3/4 tons in our farm vehicle fleet. You can often buy used ones cheaper than a similar pickup and they are much more versatile for carying tools and a fuel tank.

The downside for some is most have too high sides for gooseneck use.

I've seen used service bodies taken off trucks for sale but would have to fit the frame and wheelbase correctly. I've never installed one on an existing pickup.
