My vote is for Massey/Hesston. I had a 1372 and now a 1383. Steel on steel rolls dry hay quicker than rubber. I've never had to work on the cutter bar of either one.

How have the roller bearing treated you on the 1383? We have a 1372 and like the machine, love the cutter bar, but roller bearings have been an issue. We’re looking to upgrade, but do not want to get into another Massey if the bearings are problematic.

I never had to replace any bearings in either machine. We do 5 cuttings on 150 acres, so it covers 750 acres a year.

Had a self propelled Hesston 8550s before the 1372. Basically the same head, and never had any bearing issues with it either. My cousin still has the 8550s today.
