| From the people I know that have business experience there, the opposite is true. Brazil has high and complex corporate taxes, you basically need local ownership, and import taxes on everything make cap ex very high. Unemployment is perpetually high there for a reason. It is not very business friendly, especially for foreign capital investment. As long as the cheap corn offsets all the negatives, then sure it may still make sense. The corn has to be cheaper or you'd stay in the US. Not sure what kind of market they have for ethanol but that would matter as well. | |
