Looks like you're correct. When making slab doors on the CNC, I've always used 5mm holes with the screws shown above since that bit was already in the machine. Never have used an 8mm bit. With 5 piece wood doors, we just drilled the hinge cups on a jig and hand piloted holes for wood screws to attach the hinge.
