I'm going to go cut some wood today, I like to burn a very specific wood, and that is the first wood that I see that looks like it might be dry. I like to burn a little wood just because it is nice, but 4 days ago the geothermal went down, so looks like wood to keep the family warm now, hope the chainsaw works. -29f on Friday. I might have to cut two pickup loads. 4200sq/ft Log home. Why does everybody's furnace break right before the first cold day of the year?

Should be noted, a true 'fireplace' is just about useless for actual heating, but a wood stove (fire place insert, call it what you will) with a blower can heat effectively.
