Not in the current form. But Lincoln and Andrew Jackson both tried to abolish central bank. Lincoln was killed about a month after starting to move towards this , I think and Jackson did it, was so proud he had it put on his tombstone I heard (?) Anyway the central bank has been in and out for a long time in US economy. Ron Paul's book, "END THE FED" talks about it all quite a bit.
This doesn't sound like much fun either.
