Subject: RE: Krohn vs Vermeer round balers in corn stalks

Sioux County, NWIA
I bale a few corn stalk bales every year, and sometimes run them across a scale. Any time someone start talking about really heavy “dry” corn stalk bales my BS meter rises a little. Ran a round baler density pressure vs bale weight test last fall in cornstalks and found that a 100% increase in the pressure gained us 25% in bale weight. Density pressure was almost maxed out at the highest. After that test I am convinced moisture makes more difference in corn stalk bale weight than anything else.
