Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning. | If it was me, I'd skip the windmill and concentrate on solar and batteries. If ever anything depended on location, location, location, it's a windmill. The ideal site for one is just past the leeward crest of a big hill. Coincidentally, most building sites avoid putting the buildings on a windy knob, but still, I've seen a bunch of windmills stuck in the middle of a farmyard. Seems they might have been more interested in showing others how green they were and just kinda put up the windmill as a glorified lawn ornament. My radio club erected a windmill back in the early 80s. 60 foot tower way out in a pasture, on top of aforesaid windy knob. It made plenty of power but it also required service a couple times per year. Climbing a 60 foot tower is young man's work. Solar is so much easier to work on and much easier to scale. |
