Subject: Son has been doing it

You might check with your electric supplier. Our REA will run longer lines but add an extra charge for a couple years. Then if you keep paying your bill the charges eventually get reversed. In other words they are willing to spend the money on you as long as they are assured you are a long term customer and not a deadbeat.

My son runs his house mostly on solar. Has for a number of years. He has enough solar to basically run everything except air conditioning in summer. He uses enough line energy to use up his minimum each month, then lets solar do the rest. With the exception of a couple hot summer months. His system is pretty old and is not hooked to the grid. Uses battery bank and inverter.

He also put up just a very small windmill. It is old too. New technologies probably way better. He says no comparison. Solar way better.

Like I said, his stuff is old. Maybe 10 years? So newer stuff may be better/different.
