Not sure but seems the last time the US heavily monitized the debt and drove down dollar value was after war of 1812 to pay off the french. Not sure if we had a central bank then or what happened to the ecomomy seeing as it was mostly agricultural subsistence and little industrial sector at that time. I am sure the lessons are still known and discussed in high power bank circles though.
This doesn't sound like much fun either.
