Macon, IL | All mine have B's with airbrakes, DOT has never bothered us. I think they cut the non-semis some slack during harvest. Have had two incidents (dad rolled a truck once) and driver got pulled over when all taillights went out one night. Guy just followed us back to the field to make sure it was safe.
Had they been driving combination vehicle I am pretty sure both could have ended differently from a ticket perspective.
My longest haul is 16 miles to elevator-most are 4-5 miles or even less to the bins-so I am willing to push it some.
Not sure why everyone here is so incapable of understanding this is what my drivers want, they are all 72-82 years old, are not going to get CDLs, and are comfortable with tandems. If thats what they want-thats what I'm gonna buy.
Given the price and demand for auto tandems of these I feel I must not be the only one in this position.
