Macon, IL | Drivers is the issue. I am 10 miles from ADM, every driver that wants has full time gig-we import em from Louisiana and every place else. At the same time Illinois changed the CDL laws making it harder and more expensive to get CDL so has really shrunk pool even more.
If I could find part time drivers in my area that could be available during harvest on my schedule it makes far more sense to buy a semi. Alas that is not the situation so for someone like me there are a lot of folks willing to drive tandems that won't drive a semi.
Its also why auto tandems are stupid high and near impossible to find right now.
