Grundy County, IL | Our neighbors had a "two thousand hour break in" period on their 1206 that they are still fierce over. Start out the morning with the tractor full of fuel and oil. Head out plowing, better stop at 10 a.m. and add 1-1/2 quarts to the crankcase. Noontime stop to eat dinner, better add another quart. Stop again at 3 or 4 for coffee break, better put a quart or two in. 7:30 supper time break, another quart wouldn't hurt.
He said anytime they did tillage work on the first 2000 hours, they went through that high oil consumption rate. Planting or cultivating or running wagons, might use a quart or two in a day.
He said that at roughly 2000 hours, the tractor just plain stopped excessive oil use under heavy load and went towards normal consumption of 1-2 quarts a day under any usage.
