Tablerock Ranch eastern Wa
Dry corn has really never been an option for us for many reasons, that being said storage and handling has led us to HM for our own corn as a spike product to a high earlage ration. We utilize a drive over pile for everything, Earlage / HM corn / silage / and any chopped hay crops... mainly alfalfa/grass and Trit. We used to roller HM with a chopper setup stationary with hopper attached over chopper. Should have kept an old pull chopper for this as we don't do it anymore to keep hours off our late model Class. We will update our old Haybuster 1000 to the model Garvo shows and i think we will be dialed in. We feed with a 900 cubic foot Supreme and it runs wide open for 6 hours a day... that being said nothing we have found is faster and more convenient than these drive over ensiled piles, we can put 6 to 7 thousand bushels of HM ground corn under plastic and access 365 days a year with our 544 or better yet our 724 loader at record speed. We have fed whole corn and I haven't yet been convinced that all the whole corn in the chit has had all the goodies utilized by the cattle.
