You can get a 1.5 watt solar battery charger at harbor freight and it will make a car battery last for months maybe longer. Costs about $20.


Not sure if that's a misprint or not. The battery and panels that come with solar fencers are way overpriced for what you get. You can find used panels for $.20-.50/watt, so a 300w panel would be $60-150, and way more power than a fencer needs so it should keep any half decent battery charged through a little clouds or snow. You'll need a diode, or PWM charge controller. Panels are so cheap that a MPPT controller isn't worth the cost unless you already have one.
