Sw mn | I normally sell corn and buy screenings but that looks to be coming to an end.
Option 1 is to install a small grinding room next to my bins and haul it to the feed wagon 430’ away. Could use payloader or park the feed wagon in shed and let it fill overnight. All electric.
Option 2 install an electric grinder left of comodity shed and feed it with my semi.
Option 3 buy a roller mill and fill the big bay of the comodity shed once a month.
Option 4 just feed straight corn out of the bin. (My nutritionist claims this isn’t a horrible idea)
Option 5 rent a roller mill.
I like the ease of all electric but owning a roller mill would be nice for high moisture corn. When running numbers I’m sure renting one in the off season is probably the cheapest when figuring in interest.
30 thousand dollar roller mill at 7 percent interest is 10 cents a bushel on the first 21,000 bushel rolled each year.
Any ideas are welcome.
