Subject: corn stalks

Coastal South Carolina
good morning,

I am short on feed for cows and trying not to buy hay. I am going to graze my corn field. I am wondering if the cows will eat the stalks (not concerned about husk and cobs) better if I bush hogs them to bust the stalks? Has anyone tried this? Did the cows eat it better?

Thanks for any input.

JWalker.

Edit:

I am feeding them about 15 gallons of ground cob corn per day. This will be in addition to grazing the stalks. I will have 26 head of cows, calves and the bull grazing this corn patch. Just trying to get 3 to 4 weeks out of it.

Thanks for all the info.
