Are the leaks from the flares or the threads? Remedies are different for each.

On a flared connection the threads have “zero” to do with the sealing of the connection other than applying pressure to the areas of the flare joint that contact to seal the connection. A flare connection usually has a nut that will spin on the line but cannot be removed. The threads on a flare connection are cut straight like a bolt, if the threads were longer you could thread a nut with the proper threads all the way up or down and it would not tighten or bind on the threads. Pipe threads (NPT, National Pipe Threads 1/4” 3/8” 1/2” etc.) are cut at a taper. The more you screw the joint together the tighter the force is between the male and female threads. This is the only type of connection that thread sealer will be effective on. A picture of the connections would be helpful.
