Eastern NE KS | I get a similar letter. And I pay the fee ($1/hd) on my private treaty sales, typically breeding bulls. I choose not to rail against their inquiry because it is the law and changing that is a different topic.
I do complain about beef council promotions directed at me trying to make me feel good about the checkoff. I can't help but think the promotions in this vein cost the beef council when I believe their charter is to enhance beef demand and support associated research.
