I would advise against rotary rakes for alfalfa, especially for the acres you are projecting. Too slow and too hard on the crop. Take a look at what the big western alfalfa producers are using which is either a twin hydraulic bar rake or a heavier duty wheel rake. You can find rakes with decent center windrow splitters. I avoid raking 3 swaths on one as is this area often the dirt under the windrows is still wet yet when we are ready to bale and I don’t want that wet dirt hindering the final dry down.
