I used to do this with straw for calf bedding. So take this for what it is worth... It sucks, not a steady enough feed it'll plug , it'll slug and make you bald. I did it for many years with an old gehl blowing into a a round roof shed. I had a small concrete pad so no gravel got in. I regeared the head to slow it down and had the spear (before they were a thing) on a hyd motor. A wad would always fall off and you couldn't do anything but set the bale down shut the tractor down and start cussing. I will admit it made some amazing bedding. I then got a vertical mixer loaded with knives and can process 6 5x6 bales in the time it took me to "chop" 1 it's not as fine but it still great bedding.
