Subject: RE: Minnesota state flag-with a slight modification

Windom, MN
Unpopular opinion, but I kind of like the final design that was picked.

There has been people wanting to change the state flag for over 30 years, really the state flag we have isn't a good flag. Too much detail and words on it, these are no-nos in flag design as details can't be seen far away and words are backwards on the back side of the flag.

I am a little disappointed in the lack of agriculture in the seal and state designs. Granted it it was prominently displayed on the old ones, but really 2/3 to 3/4 of the land (or more) in MN is still farmed. Now the seal has a loon on it, and they are really pushing the outdoor wooded areas, which doesn't really exist here, but farming doesn't really exist in the arrowhead (NE part of the state). I really don't want dakota language on the seal either.

I guess what I'm saying is I felt the flag update was okay for me, but don't really like the seal update. It's all partisan politics decisions, if someone has a "D" behind their name any idea they have is terrible to someone how has an "R" behind their name and vice-versa. I feel this is dangerous thinking, as some people do have great ideas (regardless of political affiliation) and we can't agree all the time. One of my best friends is very liberal, but we can keep our discussions civil, something that rarely happens anymore.
