Latimer, Iowa (north central) | Just adding some pics with explanation. I like the look of sheds with the bottom 4 foot a different color. That said the carpenter in me sees 2 more seams for water penetration and additional expense in install. I do think a must for any shed with wood bumper boards is to wrap boards with fiberglass at least a foot into the ground. This will protect boards from rot and make it hard for animals to dig under.
Off white shed with black trim, fiberglass. 15 years old.
Brown shed built in 1977. Side door taken on in 1995. As you can see it’s hard to match faded colored steel. Installed fiberglass wrap in 2015. It was a lot of work to dig around shed to install but cleans up look and protects wood.
Hog barn showing the dirt on white roof. Top 4 foot replaced 2 years ago and cleaner currently.
