Why would rolling a position make it not a hedge this is everyday practice in cash merchandising? You are still carrying a short position that protects your long physical position. If the IRS is going to ban us from doing this they need to be challenged, especially now that hedge to arrive contracts have become expensive and unavailable.
is it just my accountant that doesn't like the words "hedge account"?
