| Bought a 24 foot aluminum Hillsboro about eleven years ago because dealer made me a crazy deal on a trade for a rusted out twenty foot Circle D. Would of been a good deal at twice the money. The previous trailer was a bucket of rust, partly because I drove through some road construction delivering cows for a friend. Though I immediately washed it, whatever they were using on the roads started to rust any ding or chip in the paint and never really quit. Not to mention normal use. Since you generally pulling it empty half the time, the fuel savings on the much lighter trailer adds up. Have basically done nothing to it besides cleaning and greasing bearings. Heard all the horror stories on aluminum welds cracking etc. but have seen nothing. I get the crazy prices for aluminum, but a steel trailer used the same way would be another rust bucket by now. | |
