...PS. What Dozer said in post lower down is an important point, first job i did i used bigger line for a hot line to bathroom thinking bigger is better but wastes too much water and time waiting for hot water to show up, stuck with 1/2 for hot later on and works better
I bought a house that had 1/2" copper from the meter and mostly 3/8", all straight hard copper, I thought it was going to be a shame when I rip out all that pretty copper to put the right size pipe in, but using it was fine, and the hot water was INSTANT at the kitchen sink, and fast to the bathroom sink. Never putting 3/4" pex too far again, my far bath now I turn the sink on hot and the tub and then WAIT too long for it to get hot.
Plastic fittings are for cold water as far as I know, fine for the basement though. pex is not allowed 18" from the water heater either. |
