I don't always lift the hedge the same day I set the cash price, but usually pretty close. I don't think it has to be the same day to be considered a hedge. I would argue that with the IRS or CPA. If it's an offsetting position, and reduces risk, not increases risk, then it's a hedge. That's the definition of a hedge the way I learned it.
