Subject: RE: Ford/New Holland Genesis tractor

EC IL
Rear axle is lighter duty on an 8670 than the larger 3 models. Neighbor trashed the rear end well before 1000 hours with the fuel screw set at ~200hp . And no the transmission is not bulletproof. We had an 8870 for a while. You need to see the transmission clutch pack calibration numbers to decide how long it will be until a rebuild. Any calibration in the 90's and your transmission is about to need work. We were told that the newer "New Holland" tractors vs the early "Ford" had some transmission updates with extra oil passages for lubrication that helped with service life. Our "Ford" 8870 had a bad wiring harness too, which burnt up transmission controllers.
