Stopped any tillage other than stripping 8 years ago. Have had rye covers on every year since then. Mostly cont corn for quite awhile but now going 2 years corn at most to 1 year soybeans due to corn rootworms in cont corn. Amazing how the wet pockets don't drown out anymore. They may thin the stand but aeration from nightcrawlers is helping tremendously. Soil was literally that crumbly and it was not dry. Makes me sick when I see similar soils across the corn belt all slabbed up from tillage. There was a post like that a week or so ago "why we gotta till our soils". I'm paraphrasing but you probably remember.
