Subject: RE: Corn on corn tillage management

Strip till makes so much sense to me and I'd love to be able to do but the people who've tied it locally don't stick at it very long. Noticed lots of blown out strips in the spring or post planting if snow melt or rain came too fast. It didn't take too much of a slope for that to happen. Ripping and field cultivator get the seed bed how I want it for CoC but it just seems like to much hardware to own to do one thing. and time.

Looking for comments on what's worked for others in heavy residue conditions and rocky situations. I try to leave residue on top for erosion control but pull up the root balls. field cultivate to knock the dirt out of them and plant. I'm not afraid of planting into residue but I want those roots balls out and knocked to hell before planting.
