Osage iowa | I never liked the idea of using concentrated salt stripes through my field year over year. How are these guys soil sampling in a striped field and at what depth? Do they poke the strip? Between the strip? How deep is the band? I think that a fair amount of p has to come from mineralization and that happens from warmer soil temps and microbe activity. How would you ever effectively lime a stripped field? Makes my head spin when I’m told if I strip that it’s a conservation practice. I’m not going to tell anyone that what they are doing on their farm is wrong and force you to change. Everyone’s farm is different and everyone has their challenges. On our farm, we till, but the most important tool in the shed is the tile plow. All these problems go away when properly drained. Side view of strip til attached.
