Subject: RE: variety tracking with Yield Sense

Michigan
A little history then:
For about a decade we'd been planting with AgLeader STMM and also harvesting with AgLeader yield monitoring. Integra, and later InCommand 1200. (Before that, had a PF3000.) For even longer than that we'd been using Farmworks for Data management. I still do, but since Trimble killed it, I don't know how much longer that is feasible. Occasionally, used SMS, but just the trial version, which was enough to make variety maps that were planted with another screen. Things were great, I knew how to use it, and it all just worked. Then last year I bought a planter on a retirement sale with vDrive and Deltaforce. Awesome. Best stand ever. Learning to use that gen 2 2020 was not so fun. Still, I was able to load my planting maps into my AL screen and harvest with it. Then this year I bought a combine with Yield Sense on another retirement sale. The PP does a good job on both ends, but I miss the AgLeader system.
Anyway...
I have two gen2 2020's. One I planted with and one in the combine. I couldn't seem to transfer the data from one to the other, and if swapping the screens would help it didn't seem like it.
I split my planter, so across the whole farm, there's always a side by side to compare. It's not much of a scientific test plot, but I can at least tell if I should or shouldn't buy that hybrid next year. Today I was counting rows to find out which variety was where so I could manually change loads on the screen and hope I labeled it right.
I plant wheat and soy with a drill and get a coverage map from the AL screens, but that won't just transfer to PP.
I'm not opposed to buying an iPad, and the subscription for Climate Fieldview isn't outrageous, but why does anyone else need to handle my data? I'm not that old, but I'm feeling like the stubborn old man resisting everyone's push to cloud based data management.
Would a Gen3 simply plug in to what I have? If so, I have two Gen2's for trade. 2for1
